In June 2026, Paris will become the global capital of railway safety. For the first time, the International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) and the Trespass Awareness Day (TRESPAD) will be hosted together at the UIC headquarters, bringing the world’s leading experts to the heart of the rail industry.

Every year, these two international campaigns mobilise around 50 countries, uniting rail professionals, public authorities, researchers, and safety advocates around a common goal: saving lives by reducing accidents at level crossings and preventing trespassing on railway property.

Launched by UIC, ILCAD has been a global reference since 2009. TRESPAD, created in 2022, rapidly became a central platform for addressing one of the most critical safety issues worldwide: intrusions and unsafe behaviour around railway tracks.

After Denver in 2022 with both launch conferences for ILCAD and TRESPAD, Warsaw, Buenos Aires, and York, the 2026 edition promises to be a landmark year:

🚆 A Global Meeting Point for Safety Innovators

ILCAD and TRESPAD gather up to 200 participants from more than 30 countries, from Europe to the Americas, Africa to Asia.

Over two days, railway engineers, rail and road‑safety leaders, researchers, academics, human factors specialists, institutional actors, and the railway industry will share breakthroughs and solutions across four major themes:

• Data, state of the art
• Risk assessments
• Engineering
• Technology & Innovation
• Education & Awareness
• Law Enforcement & Prevention
  (trespassing, risky behaviour, suicide prevention)

These sessions are a unique opportunity to foster collaboration, discover emerging technologies, and exchange concrete field experience.

The conferences will feature speakers from Europe, North America, Japan, Africa, and beyond. All presentations will be delivered in person (only), in English and French.
