SIM Factor’s simulators are now powered by High Definition graphics as the company signs new contracts in Estonia and Romania

Warsaw, Poland – August 2025

SIM Factor, Poland’s leading manufacturer of railway simulators, continues its international expansion with a new contract to deliver a full-scale Stadler Flirt vehicle simulator to Tallinna Tehnikakõrgkool (Tallinn University of Applied Sciences) in Estonia. This latest project marks the company’s third major installation in the Baltic states and is complemented by a recent 6.2 million PLN order for two ETCS-equipped locomotive simulators in Romania, further strengthening SIM Factor’s presence across Central and Eastern Europe.
Estonian Simulator Contract: Immersive Training for Stadler Flirt Vehicles
The state-of-the-art simulator for Tallinna Tehnikakõrgkool will feature a complete cab mounted on a 6DoF (six degrees of freedom) motion platform, supplied by Motion Systems, a Poland-based company. This advanced setup supports training on both electric and diesel train units and is compatible with two track gauges commonly used in the region: 1520 mm (broad gauge) and 1435 mm (standard gauge).
One key advantage of this simulator is its use of the original Stadler Flirt control desk, provided by the client, ensuring exceptional accuracy and realism in simulating real vehicle operations. Trainees will have access to training exercises across 153 km of digitally replicated railway routes, including segments modeled to the ETCS/ETMS Level 2 standard, aligning with Europe’s most advanced signalling safety protocols.
This project follows previous SIM Factor contracts in the Baltic countries:
• In 2020, five simulators were delivered to Lithuania’s Vilniaus Kolegija/University of Applied Sciences.
• In 2023, the company completed deliveries to Latvia’s Pasažieru vilciens in collaboration with Škoda Transportation.
“Estonia marks another milestone in our international expansion,” said Michał Wierzbicki, CEO of SIM Factor. “Our leading position in Poland gives us a strong foundation to grow abroad. Our flexible range of simulators—from affordable LITE models to full-scale motion systems—lets us meet diverse client needs and rapidly increase revenue.”
Revolutionary Graphics and Simulation Technology
SIM Factor has recently upgraded its simulation environment using the Unity Industry High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP). This technology upgrade enhances every layer of the simulation, from detailed 3D track infrastructure and natural landscapes to the physics engine, light behavior, and real-time weather systems.
Key highlights of the HDRP-powered simulation include:
• It will smoothly update all previously created railway routes (over 10,000 km)
• Ultra-realistic lighting and weather effects
• Dynamic environment and new track generation logic
• Next-generation CGI tailored to professional train driver training
SIM Factor’s entire simulation environment – from track infrastructure and landscapes, to over 12,000 3D objects and the dynamic world system – has been migrated to the new HDRP renderer from Unity Industry.
“This is not just a visual update; it’s a technological foundation for future railway simulation breakthroughs, fully compatible with the most demanding instructional and safety scenarios,” Wierzbicki added.
Romanian ETCS Simulator Contract: Training the Future of Rail Safety
In addition to the Baltic contract, SIM Factor secured a 6.2 million PLN net contract with the Romanian state railway operator, CFR Călători, to supply two multifunctional ETCS-equipped locomotive simulators. These advanced simulators support comprehensive certification, training, and evaluation for locomotive and railcar engineers.
The Romanian simulators offer realistic operation controls for train driving, maneuvering, and shunting, as well as simulation of locomotive equipment failures for troubleshooting exercises. They will also support the maintenance, inspection, and preparation activities
The platform integrates these features to promote high professional standards, safety, and interoperability under real-world conditions, including critical and stressful scenarios often difficult to replicate via conventional training.
“Winning our first bid in Romania broadens our presence beyond Poland and solidifies our leadership in the CEE railway simulators market,” said Wierzbicki. “Our simulators enable proper operational practices and error correction before real-world consequences, thus supporting safer, more efficient railway operations,” he adds.
A Growing European and Global Presence
SIM Factor’s products serve clients across Poland, the UK, Romania, Czechia, Germany, the Baltic States, India, and beyond. Their award-winning simulator range supports driver education with unprecedented realism and immersive environments—raising the bar for operational readiness and safety in the railway industry.
SIM Factor’s commitment to innovation, quality, and client-specific solutions continues to drive its success and rapid growth within the international railway simulation market.
